I haven’t been very active on my blog for a while. I’ve done a lot of work, but I just haven’t been writing enough. I plan on adding some new entries soon to catch anyone up.

That being said, I was browsing Astro templates during a slowdown at work and I found this one! I feel like its a lot more “me”. I like that it came with anime girls, but I’ll probably change them. I used Astro for my last blog, but I started with a more basic template so that I could make my own edits to it and learn. The problem with that is that I’m not a front-end developer and I have little interest in working adding styling to that template. It was a nice & easy template to work with.

Despite that, I’m not really good with Astro. I feel like there isn’t a lot of structure because the framework is so flexible that its easy to look up stack overflow and mishmash template types and features into a fraken-site. When you are first starting out its tempting to do something like that to just get the job done, but I tend to like not introducing a lot of unnecessary complexity if not needed. If theres a way to solve my problem using the features I already have then why adopt more features even though what I have is efficient enough? Do I really need to import and use .mdx to get a video that I have in a local directory to show up in a post? No I don’t.

Anyway, I get that the whole point of Astro is to open up possibilities to do whatever you want however you want. Thats just not how I roll and Astro’s framework supports that too. Like I said, I don’t know how to really use Astro. I use Javascript at my work so its not like FE is completely foreign to me, but this template does have so many features that it will take me a bit to get comfortable, but I’m looking forward to it 😊.
